Current Opportunities

Senior Associate – Government Relations and Legislative Advocacy

London Headquarters

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to support and lead elements of our government relations and legislative advocacy work. The successful candidate will have 5–8 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally gained in government affairs, public policy, or a leading international law firm or consultancy.

Key responsibilities include monitoring legislative and policy developments across the UK, Australia and Southeast Asia, preparing briefing materials and advocacy strategies, and supporting high-level stakeholder engagement. The role demands strong political acumen, excellent writing and analytical skills, and the ability to operate with discretion in sensitive environments.

This is a senior client-facing position reporting directly to a core partner, offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape policy outcomes for our select client base.

Compliance Associate – Global Commodity Trading and Cross-Border Regulation

London or Kuala Lumpur

We are looking for a talented Compliance Associate to join our growing practice in global commodity trading compliance and overseas investment regulation. Candidates should have 3–6 years’ relevant experience, preferably in sanctions, trade compliance, AML or foreign investment screening, gained in a law firm, commodity trading house or regulatory body.

The role involves advising clients on complex regulatory frameworks, designing compliance programmes, supporting due diligence for cross-border transactions, and assisting with responses to regulatory inquiries. A strong understanding of UK, EU, Australian and Malaysian regulatory landscapes would be advantageous.

The position can be based in our London headquarters or our Kuala Lumpur office, with hybrid working arrangements available.

Political Risk and Geopolitical Analyst

London, with flexibility for remote/hybrid

This role suits a bright and analytically rigorous professional with 2–5 years’ experience in geopolitical analysis, political risk, or related fields. Previous exposure to diplomacy, think tanks, intelligence analysis or international consulting is highly desirable.

You will contribute to geopolitical risk assessments, prepare client briefings on emerging political and regulatory trends, and support scenario planning for investments in volatile markets. Excellent research, writing and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to distil complex international dynamics into clear strategic advice.

The role is based primarily in London but offers hybrid working options.
Students and Graduates

Internship Programme

Veridian Strategic Counsel runs a selective internship programme designed for exceptional penultimate- or final-year students, as well as recent graduates with a strong academic record and genuine interest in international policy, regulatory affairs or geopolitical strategy.

Interns work closely with our core partners and associates on live client matters, including research, legislative monitoring, compliance analysis and briefing preparation. Placements are typically 8–12 weeks and are available year-round, with a focus on London (some flexibility for remote contributions).

The programme offers meaningful exposure to high-level work in a boutique environment, along with mentorship and feedback. We welcome applications from candidates with relevant coursework or experience in law, international relations, politics, or economics. Fluency in additional languages is an advantage.
